Room Scribe is an iPhone app for recording in-person meetings, storing meeting audio locally, transcribing recordings through pay-as-you-go transcript hours, and exporting transcripts.
Room Scribe does not require you to create an account, profile, team workspace, or SaaS login. The app may use anonymous technical identifiers and Apple transaction information to unlock transcript hours, restore purchases, prevent abuse, and process transcription jobs.
Room Scribe stores recordings, audio chunks, transcript metadata, transcript text, transcription diagnostics, language settings, transcript-hour balance information, and related app settings on your device.
Room Scribe offers transcript-hour packs through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple processes the purchase. Room Scribe may receive and store transaction information needed to unlock transcript hours, restore purchases, prevent abuse, and provide support.
Room Scribe uses the iPhone microphone only after you grant microphone permission and start a recording. Meeting audio is saved locally on your device. You can delete recordings from inside the app.
When you choose to transcribe a recording, Room Scribe uploads the relevant meeting audio to the Room Scribe transcription service. The service sends the meeting audio to AssemblyAI for transcription and speaker labels when available. The transcript is returned to the app and saved locally on your device.
Room Scribe is designed to delete uploaded audio from app server storage after transcription succeeds, fails, is canceled, or is acknowledged by the app after local receipt. Room Scribe also requests deletion of the AssemblyAI transcript after processing. Abandoned uploaded audio may be removed automatically by cleanup jobs after about 24 hours. Temporary backend job and event records are removed after the app saves the terminal result locally and acknowledges receipt. Older stuck or expired backend records may be purged automatically.
You can delete local recordings and transcripts in the app. You can also use Settings > Data and Privacy > Delete Account and Data to request deletion of backend account, purchase-balance, transcription-job, uploaded-audio, and local app data associated with Room Scribe. Because transcription requires sending meeting audio to AssemblyAI, revoking consent for future transcription means not running transcription, deleting account/app data, or uninstalling the app rather than continuing with a non-transcription mode.
Room Scribe exports Markdown transcripts and audio chunks only when you choose to share them through the iOS share sheet. The destination you choose may have its own privacy practices.
Room Scribe may use developer-operated servers built on Supabase to process transcription requests, validate purchases, track transcript-hour balances, protect against abuse, and diagnose transcription failures. These servers process meeting audio only when you choose to transcribe a recording.
Room Scribe does not include third-party advertising SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites.
Room Scribe may store local and server-side diagnostic information to show transcription progress, recover failed transcription jobs, prevent duplicate charges, and investigate failures. Diagnostics may include recording duration, transcription status, provider error codes, timing information, and internal job identifiers. Diagnostics should not include transcript text unless explicitly needed for support and disclosed before collection.
Room Scribe is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
This policy may be updated as Room Scribe changes. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
